Jingshi Zhang
Jingshi Zhang graduated from CASE with a Master of Science in Built Ecologies. Jingshi is from China and prior to joining CASE attended the Syracuse University where she received a Masters of Architecture. She is interested in advanced building envelopes, building performance simulation, sustainable design, energy saving strategies. Jingshi’s research at CASE focused on Algae bio-reactive building envelopes.
Algae-bioreactors have emerged as integral parts of buildings, as multi-functional systems that improves indoor environment qualities and reduce energy usage. Their symbiotic relationship with the building and its performance makes them a promising next-generation building façade: they combine functions of CO2 absorption, energy generation, passive interactive shading, as well as thermal mass storage.
