Jeanne Gallagher

Program Manager and Director of Communications, CASE

Jeanne Gallagher understands the power of clear communication. In her current position as Program Manager for the Center for Architecture Science and Ecology (CASE) she leads the public outreach, grant support, and media strategy for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s research center focused on sustainability in the built environment.

Gallagher previously worked Director of Public Relations at the Alliance for Clean Energy New York, the leading mission-based, clean energy organization in New York State.

Gallagher began her work in academic communications at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she represented the work of more than 250 faculty across multiple fields to the international, national, and local media earning placement in the New York Times Magazine, Bloomberg News, Fast Company, The Guardian, Dezeen, and the Wall Street Journal among others.

Prior to academic communications, Gallagher worked for several decades in journalism and television production.

Gallagher wrote and produced television shows with the Travel Channel and commercials and media campaigns for corporate clients including Allegiant, MVP Health Care, and Hoffman Car Wash.

At Dateline: NBC, Gallagher won a national Emmy Award for Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a News Magazine for the story on the return of Elizabeth Smart and covered major news events including Columbine, 9-11, Hurricane Katrina, and the crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261. Gallagher reported on inspirational stories like that of an Air Force pilot who was forced to eject after losing consciousness on a training mission and broke nearly every bone in his body but fought back to the cockpit to fly again.

At Extra!, the entertainment newsmagazine, she landed an interview with the Penguin, Burgess Meredith, after sharing a bottle of wine during the Malibu Fires and covered press junkets with most of the film and television stars of the mid-90s.

Gallagher holds a master’s degree in French from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a bachelor’s degree from the University of New York at Albany.
