Aida Ayuk

Aida Ayuk is an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Architecture program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Aida is originally from the city of Takoma Park in the Washington Metropolitan Area. She has received a number of recognitions in design and innovation from Architectural Design, Dezeen, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Smith College. Prior to CASE, she designed and built a mobile recording studio to serve as a model for portable, low-impact construction for community use. She has continued this work with organizations dedicated to community-driven urban design. Her research interests explore new models for city livability through the integration of technology that responds to environments and human wellness.

During her time at CASE, Aida worked with a graduate-led research team, under OBM International’s AERA project, to create databases, scripts, and simulations to advance indoor plant design targeted at improving human health. Her design work centered around vertical urban agriculture in response to food insecurity in rapidly urbanizing cities. She also designed and prototyped vertical hydroponic systems as building wall systems and through collaboration, utilized recycled cork to produce innovative acoustic panels.
