Abigail Light
Abigail Light is a third year Barch student at CASE for the Fall of 2022. At Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, she is part of NOMAS, National Organization of Minority Architecture students, NOMAS, a club that helps me connect with minority students like herself to speak up about their thoughts on architecture studies at RPI. Her studies and club participation at RPI have led her to the great opportunity at CASE to further my curiosity in environmental conditions in designing structures. She is researching an alternative building material to concrete, hempcrete, that can change the energy consumption in our built ecology. In this project, she is proposing a reconstruction of the Dennings Point Brickstone factory into a hempcrete manufacturing company in Hudson, NY. This building aims to reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption for housing in the Hudson, NY area. The facility will allow people from all over to tour the facility to understand the hempcrete manufacturing process and provide architects with the opportunity to design and build their own hempcrete project that will be displayed on the site.
