The Hemplion Project

Brooklyn, NY

The Hemplion project is creating a factory of harvesting dandelions in Brooklyn, NY. Hemplion is a model for a new supply chain of rubber products such as a new alternative for roof shingles that would create better sustainable practices, reduce material waste, and improve roof maintenance and durability when compared to other typical shingles. The Hemplion factory consists of an open layout filled with dandelion aeroponics for visitors and potential clients to experience the new manufacturing process of dandelion rubber shingles. The building itself is reusing the exterior and structure of the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx and transforming it into a showcase for Hemplion. Due to it's site and close proximity to the center of NYC, the exterior design implements this new shingle product that could be molded into any design that could rap around the building and be more than a typical roof shingle.
