Nora Wright

Nora Wright is a CASE alumni through the Arch Away program. She graduated from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture. At RPI, she was an active member of NOMAS (National Organization of minority Architecture Students) and the African Students’ Association, and aspires to integrate all parts of her identity into her design whenever relevant. At CASE, Nora worked to question the potential for an insulation type that is made from hemp, a natural material, as a replacement for normative insulation, specifically fiberglass insulation. Her proposal involved the transformation of Lake and Rail warehouse and grain elevator (part of Silo City in Buffalo, NY) into a manufacturing and storage facility that includes ancillary programs such as research and housing. She also researched the potential development of a plant phytoremediation database that could be used to enhance the built environment by encouraging designers to build with plants.
